5th Sunday – March 30, 2025

Second Hour holds two options – Discernment regarding membership in Friends General Conference and a Crochet Circle to make plastic mats for people living on the street.

WE MEET IN PERSON AT THE MEETING HOUSE EVERY WEEK AND ON ZOOM EVERY WEEK EXCEPT THE FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH.

Here is a Zoom link for those who wish to attend virtually:

People begin gathering about 9:30 AM with unprogrammed Meeting for Worship going from 10:00 – 11:00.

During worship we offer First Day School for babies and young children. Children and adult leaders explore together how Spirit guides us as we explore God’s Love through free play, imagination, song, stories, art and more. Topic for this Sunday is “Stories of Quaker Faith and Practice.”

After Meeting for Worship, we have informal fellowship with refreshments followed by Second Hour which starts 11:30-11:45.

During Second Hour this week we have two options:

North Pacific Yearly Meeting is asking monthly meetings to discern if the yearly meeting should join Friends General Conference (FGC). This discernment process will be led by Tacoma Friends treasurer, Angie Alexander.

A second opportunity involves learning how to make crocheted mats from plastic grocery bags. These mats will be offered to people who are living on the street. Plastic mats are lightweight, resistant to water, and provide cushioning and insulation from the ground. To participate, simply meet in the yurt during 2nd hour where our TFM caretaker, Suzie, will show us how to begin the mats. Things to bring, if you can, include a size Q crochet hook, scissors, and heavier weight plastic grocery bags. We will cut the bags into strips, begin crocheting and take items home to finish our projects. Completed mats can come back to the meeting house for distribution to those who need them.

If you’re not on the meeting email list, please email us at tacomafriendsmeeting@gmail.com for an invite.
